Search Engine Lowdown Post #5

I recently volunteered myself to create a new weekly post for Search Engine Lowdown. I am supposedly one of several people doing this, although I’ve been the only one to write anything since our meeting two weeks ago. I don’t mind, of course; it’s kind of fun to be the only one in the room with something to say. Still, I’ve got my other work responsibilities to take care of, so I can’t devote as much time to SEL as it truly deserves. At any rate, my most recent post concerns the usefulness of the meta description tag. According to strict search engine optimization guidelines, they’re generally not that useful, but they’re actually great for search marketing as a whole. It’s a pretty straightforward observation, but one I think the industry could stand to be reminded of. Be sure to read the article if you’re one of us weird people to whom technical SEO minutia is actually interesting.
