Search Engine Lowdown Post #4

November 16, 2006Stephen Ward

I always like posting to Search Engine Lowdown, and my latest post about Yahoo and MSN adopting Google’s sitemap protocol is no different. It makes me feel like something of a celebrity. After all, how often do I get to write something that gets read by thousands? I’d love to claim Project Paradox has that kind of readership, but it would be nothing more than a pleasant fantasy.

It doesn’t come without a pang of sorrow, though. Every time I post to SEL, I am forced to remember all of the other bloggers who came before me and made it what it is. Until now, I hadn’t known any of them personally, but with Garrett’s departure, I find I’m writing in the abscence of a man I considered to be the blog’s heart and soul.

I’d be lying if I thought I could fill his shoes; I feel I have a long way to go before becoming a blogger of Garrett’s caliber. Still, SEL must go on. I prefer to think of every post as a tribute to SEL’s past contributors, a way of continuing the work where they left off. Keeping the flame alive, as it were. I’m sure they’d agree that it’s better than the alternative.
