The Big Move and Old Employers

Yesterday was long and exhausting. My wife, her brother, and I were busy moving all day. I know I’ve said it before, but you never realize how much stuff you own until you’re forced to move it all at once. Despite the tiresome hassle, however, I am confident that the whole ordeal will be well worth it. We only have a few small items to finish moving and all of our worldly goods will be in the same place again for the first time in more than a year and a half.

I was actually quite surprised how easy it was to get a U-Haul truck once we found a dealer with the availability. The whole exchange took us about five minutes, with the only documentation asked for being a driver’s license. How is it that you can rent a large truck so easily when renting a car is so much more time-consuming? Oh well, I’ve never been one to look a gift horse in the mouth. I’m just glad we’re out of the thing. Neither my wife nor I have ever driven anything larger than a station wagon, after all, so getting from place to place was a harrowing experience to say the least.

On a completely unrelated topic, I discovered in my server logs today that someone at my old employer’s office has been perusing this journal. Granted, it could very well be one of my former coworkers, in which case I don’t mind in the slightest. I think it more than likely, however, that it might be my former boss snooping into my personal affairs. Granted, my journal is open to the public at large, but I trust him with news about my personal life less than I trust complete strangers. As such, I’ve blocked the IP address. My only hope is to live out the rest of my days without ever hearing from them again.

Anyway, it’s back to moving for me. When I go to bed tonight, it will be in a brand new apartment. And, with any luck, I’ll be able to start my new job the day after tomorrow. Things are looking good thusfar. I only hope they stay that way.
