Satisfied with Yourself

I’m not talking about being complacent or smug. To me, self-satisfaction has nothing to do with arrogance. It’s the ability to wake up in the morning, look at yourself in the mirror, and feel proud of who you are and what you’ve done with your life so far. You just can’t help but be happy when everything is going the way you want it to because you made it that way. I mention this because I had such a moment this morning. I looked at myself in the mirror and thought, “Wow, that time at the gym is really paying off.” Only just last night I found out that my website was started to become a real success. And earlier I received a number of compliments from friends on a story I wrote for Talan. I guess it all just came in at once and made me feel pretty good about myself. I think it’s worthwhile to sit back once in awhile and bask in your own achievements. I don’t think of it as being vain unless you do it all the time. Actually, I’m sure it’s quite healthy to esteem yourself on occassion.
