The Dracula Build
Having levelled up significantly since I first posted the Nightfall/Master Demonologist Build, I’ve come to conclude that some revisions are in order. For example, provided I plan ahead and keep a few soul shards handy, there are very few instances in which I actually keep my imp out. Thus, I’ve done away with the points dedicated to Improved Imp.
Most of my revisions are based on my newfound respect for the succubus. I have found that, at least in this case, the best defense is a good offense. A warlock drain tanking with a well-specced succubus can dish out truly hideous damage while remaining relatively surviviable. It’s not quite as safe as using a voidwalker, but the gains in grinding time are well worth the added risk.
Therefore, to promote proper tanking, I’ve maxed out Demonic Embrace and removed Improved Health Funnel. You shouldn’t need it anyway if you’ve got your succubus out. I kept points in Improved Voidwalker just in case you get into a tight spot. After all, it doesn’t do to be a Demonology warlock and only use one summon all of the time. I threw the remaining points into Fel Intellect and Fel Stamina, while keeping the higher-tier talents the same.
I also shifted a few points around in the Affliction tree, focusing on Improved Drain Life and Fel Concentration. Again, these changes are to ensure the effectiveness of drain tanking. Of course, Improved Corruption and Nightfall just make a good thing even better, and Siphon Life is a natural must.
The end result is something I like to call the Dracula Build. After all, what else would you call a life-draining fiend who runs around with a kinky, bat-winged dominatrix? At this point, I can say that I have at least partially tested it, and I definitely like how it works in PvE. We’ll see how well it does in PvP when I head to the battlegrounds this weekend.
