Nothing Says “I Love You” Like an Epic Mount

I’m a nerd. That much is pretty obvious if you spend enough time around me. More importantly, I’m lucky enough to be married to a woman as nerdy as I am (even though she’ll never admit to it). So when Valentine’s Day rolled around this year, I thought long and hard about what to get her. Flowers? Candy? Jewelry (as if I could afford it)? Or maybe something a little nerdier?

I finally decided on an epic mount. For the longest time, my wife’s night elf rogue has been suffering on a standard mount. Ever since the Burning Crusade expansion came out, she’s been cursing the boars of Hellfire Peninsula that seem to take special glee in unhorsing her. Of course, she didn’t have nearly enough gold to even consider the purchase on her own.

Thankfully, we share the same account, so it was a simple enough matter to log in, transfer the gold (BC has been good to me), buy the mount, and put her character back without her ever knowing. I seriously considered letting her discover the gift on her own until I realized she’d soon be bugging the crap out of me to find out what I got her.

Instead, I decided to come up with a scavenger hunt. She woke up in the morning to find clues hidden around the house, each hinting at the nature of her gift and leading her to the next clue. One mentioned her gift was fuzzy and cuddly (a teddy bear, perhaps). Another mentioned that her gift featured green gemstones that “match her hair” and told her to look in her jewelry box.

She was, of course, elated when she finally figured out what it was. Here’s a screenshot of her character atop her spiffy new swift frostsaber. So, all you Warcraft chicks out there, what did your man get you for Valentine’s Day?

I like to think so, Kuri. My wife and I play lots of characters on both sides of Shadow Council. I rarely if ever PvP, though, so don’t count on getting a chance to pwn me.
