Life After Level 60 | ||

Many players would argue that the real fun begins at level 60. All sorts of new options are available. It isn’t until level 60 that you can undertake some of the hardest quests in the game, including obtaining an epic mount and collecting the best gear. You’re finally be ready to tackle level 60 instance raids like Molten Core, Ahn’Qiraj, and Zul’Gurub. You may have stopped gaining levels, but there’s still a lot to do before your character can be numbered among the best. At least, that’s the general concensus. Level 60 is supposedly a goal to attain, after which new doors will magically open for you. Having experienced it for myself, I have to argue the opposite. For players like me, the thrill seems to end at level 60. Several weeks ago, I finally attained the height of heights with my warlock Secronus. I was, naturally, quite pleased with myself. Now I could go and do all of those epic things that people talk about, right? Wrong. Now I was consigned to sit around and wait for raid groups to form. It’s even worse than boredom, however, as many of the instances I would like to raid require anywhere from 20- to 40-man raid groups. As I do not belong to a guild this large, it is impossible to find anyone who wants to go. My hands are tied. You see, I’m a fan of soloing, which, ironically enough, is impossible at level 60. There seems to be nothing that a level 60 can accomplish on his or her own. It’s all party dynamics and group play. I enjoy parties as much as anyone else, but in those brief spats that I only have an hour or two to play, getting into a raid is out of the question. It’s frustrating, really, since this means my level 60 is essentially finished. I had hoped to go much further with him. Unfortunately, however, I’m just not the sort of person to stay up until the wee hours of the morning running these grand dungeons. I only wish there were options for people like me to have fun at level 60, but even the battlegrounds are too competitive to consider. There is always the option of starting a new character, and the truth is that I have several who are well below level 60. Still, the game seems to have lost much of its appeal now that I’ve been that high. It’s like I’ve seen and done all that I can do. Hopefully I can find a way to renew my interest in it. Otherwise, I don’t see myself renewing my subscription the next time around. | ||||
