Let me preface this by saying that I hate the idea of manufactured fame. It makes me sick to think that stars and music idols are created rather than self-made, that our cultural icons are now factory-produced rather than gaining their status on their own merits. Still, I like to give every artist, and by extension every song, a fair chance.
Walk Away caught me as just another product of Hollywood-manufactured hype. Still, when I gave it a chance, I couldn’t help but enjoy it. Perhaps the best part about it, of course, is the video. Watching people, even men, singing along in the shower, the car, at work, etc. is just hilarious, mainly because it actually happens. Thus, while the song itself was probably born on an assembly line, the shower head soloists in the video are entirely believable.
