I did some of the victorian calling cards for Tiny Details. It took a while. About two weeks. We bought the kit for $58. We decided to switch up as the cards were extremely tiny and hard to see to work with. Finished the kit, sent it back by post mail with delivery confirmation. According to their own literature in their brochure we were to be paid "promptly". So we called and we called and we called. Finally after about the 5th call they returned our call. We had to go through the kit again as they had found some "mistakes" So they sent it back and we went through it again. That time it was accepted. And they did pay us $52.52 They told us in a letter they had sent that they don't check each one. Whoever they sell this stuff to is probably getting the shaft too. They sent us our 2nd kit. We did it, and have sent it back again with confirmation delivery. They receive that kit from us within two days. It was delivered to them Nov.5,2011. Today is Nov. 30. 2011. We called them once about a week after delivery and have not heard back from them They are absolutely terrible when it comes to communication. They now owe us $75. Do you think we will ever get the money? I don't. They don't know what "promptly" means. I say if your gonna sue first alert the atty. general of the state of NY about them and see what he will do. If I don't hear from them soon, that is exactly what I will do. Also bringing a suit of false advertisement might go a bit further then trying to get your money back. Close them down and don't let them scam anyone else.

Hello Chris. Yes, TALAN has made a resurgence since I wrote this post so many years ago, and Chip and Costello have put together a fine following. I am hopeful that my own Raleigh-area LARP, the Shards of Orn, can grow to their size some day. At any rate, I hope you have fun at your first event, and thanks for setting the record straight on such an old post. ;)

This year I have stumbled upon this TALAN LARP in Raliegh, NC. Probably the same one as mentioned upove. I come from playing other LARPs: NERO (still playing after 15+ yrs), Avalon(2 yrs and quit - after which I thought sucked, because of the lack of action and fighting); Laire, Daghoir, SCA... etc.

Well I am excited about this coming weekend - I'm planning to play Talan for my first event and I've had no problems getting information about the game and all of my questions have been answered very promptly. I hear they draw about 70-80 people an event - and perhaps more this event.
with your first event only being $5, why not try it I thought! So 4 more days til I play it!

On the contrary, Joel, I'd say my stance is based on logic rather than fear. I'm 25 now, and I'm a much different person than I was when I married at 20. In my case, I like to think I've developed into a better husband and father. My wife and I have only grown closer as time has gone by. The fact that we've both grown so much, though, is evidence enough to me that everyone still has a lot of growing to do in their early 20's. I can easily see how couples could grow away from each other in the same timeframe.

I fully intend to teach my son good principles so that he has a successful marriage. Regardless, my opinion to him will be as I have stated, that he should wait until he's finished becoming an adult to make a decision that will affect him throughout his adult life. I have no intention of laying that down as the law, of course; I'm just not that sort of dad. Hopefully, though, he'll have enough respect for my opinions at that point to listen when I advise in his best interests.
