Stupid People

It’s a crass but accurate classification, I think. I’ve recently refined my definition. Someone who doesn’t know something, even something that’s common sensical or obvious, is ignorant. Someone who’s sure that they’re right despite their ignorance is just plain stupid.

That being established, I Stumbled around yesterday and found several prime examples of stupid people. Firstly, I was surprised to find out that there are people who’ve never heard of a $2 bill. Sure, they’re no longer printed, but even I’ve seen a few of them and I’m pretty young. I think this one accurately demonstrates what I mean between someone who’s ignorant and someone who’s stupid.

Second, it’s amazing to hear some of the stories of computer paranoia out there. Steal your electricity? Spy on you when it’s off… through the monitor? It’s one thing not to understand something, but this is downright superstitious.

The last one I found was a collection of anecdotes demonstrating why Americans shouldn’t be allowed to travel. Did these people learn geography with an imaginary map? If we aren’t the stupidest people on earth, we’re definitely near the top of the list. Hurray for the American public school system.

I’ll end this post with a ray of hope. One of my personal expressions is, “People are stupid, and then they die.” No matter how stupid someone is, rest assured that they’ll die one day, probably by doing something stupid. Who knows? Maybe some of the people from these examples will win Darwin Awards when it happens.
